Having a beautiful body is something that both men and women aim to do, that’s why our center recommends gynecomastia surgery.
Gynecomastia surgery is done to men to eliminate any fat tissue in the breast area which can cause them to look saggy and unattractive.
What is gynecomastia surgery?
Gynecomastia is an enlargement of the breast tissue in males. It happens due to many reasons:
- It can be physiological change like puberty
- A side effect to certain medication
- Inappropriate secretion of hormones
And gynecomastia surgery aims to reduce the size of the breast by removing the overly developed tissue
Before the procedure
When you first visit your doctor, you will be examined and your medical, surgical, medication history will be taken. And the doctor will discuss your expectations and make an individual plan for you.
you will have to stop eating after midnight the night before surgery
Some blood tests will be done
You should stop some medication like aspirin and other NSAIDs
You have to stop smoking at least for six weeks as smoking increase complications during surgery
You should stay hydrated to speed the recovery process
You’ll need to take a week off from work and rest
Steps inside the procedures
Usually, it is done under general anesthesia yet it can be performed under local anesthesia and oral sedation
Then the surgeon will make the incisions after sterilizing the treated area.
If the case requires, the surgeon will remove excess glandular breast tissue through an incision in the margin of the nipple-areolar complex and/or skin excision (in very large male breasts)
In some cases, this isn’t necessary and liposuction is enough where a small incision is made to insert the device that will break apart fat cells and vacuum the fat out.
Then the incisions will be closed and you will be woken up.
Procedure’s techniques
We have two major techniques.
The first one targets the fat tissue (if the problem is in it) using liposuction. It is a less invasive procedure compared to the second technique which is a more appropriate solution when the enlargement is in the breast’s glands (not only fatty tissue) it is more invasive as it may require the excision of glandular tissue to reduce the size of the breasts.
